Roommates

"Roommates" is a small series about the personal exploration of intimacy, chaos, and the playful unpredictability that emerges when you live in close quarters with close friends. This black-and-white photography series, shot on film and produced in the darkroom, documents my experience sharing a small apartment with two women—my first time living with female roommates in college.

During the development of this series capture, I witness the raw and unfiltered moments in our daily lives, from quiet pauses to spontaneous laughter. The lack of color draws attention to the contrasts of our personalities and living styles while also amplifying the textures and shapes of the space we inhabit together. There is beauty in the mundane and joy in the mess—the small details that create a strong friendship.

"Roommates" is not just a documentation of our lives within a space. It is a visual celebration of a shared experience, the friction and harmony, and the unspoken connections that grow in such proximity. It shows that living with others doesn't just change your physical space, but your understanding of companionship and community.
